If you are anything like me, you want family photos but you feel overwhelmed by the idea of another lengthy photo session and worrying if your children will "cooperate". I love photographing families and my clients have always appreciated my easy-going, stress-free, and lighthearted approach to photographing families.
I am Miranda Oostlander. I hold many titles but mom is the title I have learned the most from. My three kiddos have taught me to find calm, slow down, laugh when I want to cry and embrace every moment with them.
I believe there is always something to be grateful for.
My style of photography and my favourite images are lifestyle and candid. I love a classic portrait that turns into a candid photograph with real emotion, I see value in both posed and candid images. I'm passionate about capturing authentic moments and delivering photographs that become your timeless visual legacy that will be cherished by future generations.
Education is something I highly value which is part of my inspiration for going back to college as a busy mother. I am currently beginning my third year in the Community-Based Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) program at the University of Calgary. I attended the Center for Arts and Technology in Kelowna where I received my Digital Photography Diploma in 2010. Since then I have taken multiple photography courses to sharpen my skills.
Most days you can find me at home drinking tea or coffee, petting our Rottweilers (Sable and Cynder), laughing at my husband's Dad jokes, while doing full-time University from home and being a mom. When I am not taking pictures for you, you can catch me colouring, dancing, or singing to pretty well all music genres, reading, practicing yoga, running, lifting weights, and photographing our daily life.
5 things you might not know about me:
1. I love TV series! Some of my favourites include Friends, Schitt's Creek, Gilmore Girls, Big Bang Theory, Queer Eye, and Game of Thrones.
2. I love the smell of rain and one of my all-time favourite songs is "I Love a Rainy Night" by Eddie Rabbitt
3. I started dating my husband when I was 16 and he was 21 (it was scandalous but we didn't care lol) and he asked me to marry him on my grade 12 graduation day and we've never looked back! We got married in 2010.
4. Camping is one of my favourite activities to do as a family, Mostly for the peace and no schedules but also for the smores over the campfire.
5. We have a big garden and I was very resistant to it in the beginning but now I am hooked and could talk about gardening all day (also house plants)!
